MILLBURY/NORTH CAROLINA – Leonard F. "Lenny" Gagliardi, 77, died Sunday, March 11th surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
Leonard leaves his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara H. (Fitzgerald) Gagliardi; a son, Albert J. Gagliardi and his wife, Yvonne Bucholtz of Lorton, VA; a daughter, Linda Gagliardi-Ross and her husband, Thomas of Winterville, NC; two sisters, Anne Harmon and her companion, Bob of Millbury and Rose Fresolo and her husband, Mike Gazzaniga of Millbury; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Albert "Bib" and Genevieve (Panczyk) Gagliardi.
Lenny was a lifelong resident of Millbury before moving with his wife to Winterville, NC for the past six years. He attended the former Worcester Boys Trade School and received a diploma as a veteran from Millbury Memorial High School in 2006. Leonard was in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1955, serving aboard the destroyer USS Borie, DD-704. He was owner and operator of Gagliardi Electric Company for 17 years. He retired from the Upper Blackstone WPAD after 25 years as Chief of Maintenance. Lenny cofounded the Millbury Frogmen Diving Club and was an original member and sponsor of the Gagliardi Electric Company softball team of the Millbury Men's Softball League. He was a lifelong member of Clearview Country Club in Millbury, a member of the Tin Can Sailors and Moose Lodge 885 in Greenville, NC. He also enjoyed scuba diving, golfing, wood working, flying of his own Cessna 172, cooking, traveling, casinos and entertaining his many, many beloved friends. Lenny will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.
Lenny's calling hours will be held Thursday, March 15th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. A funeral service will be held immediately following the calling hours at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. His burial with military honors will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vidant Medical Center Foundation, PO Box 8489, Greenville, NC 27835.
