MILLBURY - Leroy M. Thomas Sr., 84, of 4 John St., died Thursday, Sept. 12, in his home, after being stricken ill.
His wife of 49 years, Victoria E.(Bernat) Thomas died in 1990. He leaves three sons, Stanley 'Steve' H. Thomas of Worcester, Leroy 'Roy' M. Thomas Jr. of Sutton and James R. Thomas of Millbury; two daughters, Joyce C. Watts and Joan M. Thurber both of Millbury; 15 grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a long time friend, Charlotte Whiterell; nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by three brothers, Melvin, Elmer and Harold Thomas. He was born in Santa Clara, New York, son of Merton amd Georgianna (Mathieau) Thomas and he was raised in Worcester and moved to Millbury in 1951. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School in Worcester.
Mr. Thomas was foreman at Crompton-Knowels in Worcester where worked for 37 years, retiring in 1980. He then worked with his son at Thomas Dia-Carb in Holden for 4 years.
He was a member and Usher at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Worcester.
The funeral will be held Monday, Sept. 16, from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., (

) with a Mass at 1 p.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St., Worcester. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, Ma. 01701 or to VNA Care Hospice, Inc., 120 Thomas St., Worceser, Ma. 01608.
