SUTTON- Lester R. Aldrich, 84, formerly of Church St and Hartness Rd., died Saturday, April 5, in St. Vincent Hospital, at the Worcester Medical Center, Worcester.
He leaves his wife, Ruth M. (Spinney) Aldrich; a son, Stephen J. Aldrich of Sutton; three daughters, Elaine R. Blythe of New Paltz, New York, Patricia M. Zamarro of Northboro and Dianne Warden of Rehoboth; nine grandchildren; two great-grandsons; nephews and nieces. He was born in Winchendon, son of Perley and Grace E. (Mann) Aldrich and lived in Sutton for many years. He graduated from Fitchburg State College and also the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Mr. Aldrich worked in education for 38 years, retiring as Assistant Superintendent of Sturbridge School in 1979.
He was a member, deacon and moderator of the First Congregational Church. He was a former Sutton Library Trustee, a past member of the Sutton Housing Authority and the Sutton Council on Aging.
The Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, in the First Congregational Church, 312 Boston Rd. Burial will be private in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon. There are no calling hours. Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury(
