GRAFTON – Lester A. "Buppy" Stallsmith, 64, of South Grafton, formerly of Millbury, died Monday, May 23rd after a long illness.

His beloved wife of 29 years, Shirley A. (Legassey) Stallsmith died in 2009. He leaves two children, Tracy A. wife of Jeffrey Cardin of Sutton and Angela wife of Scott Latter of West Brookfield; six grandchildren, Joshua, Nicholas, Danielle, Nathan, Taylor and Paige; one great granddaughter, Alanah; four sisters, Pearl Young of Columbus, Ohio, Susan Felger and Louise Buchner both of East Palestine, Ohio and Mae Bounds of Norfolk, Virginia; four step-sisters, Dorothy Ball, Elsie Young and Peg Cononaco all of Beaver Falls, PA and June Young of Morgan Town, West Virginia; many nephews and nieces. He was born in East Palestine, Ohio and is predeceased by his parents, Lester J. and Elsie E. (Morgan) Stallsmith, his step-mother, Josephine Cononaco, a sister, Lena Jean and a step-sister, Merle Ray.

Lester was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 29 years, most recently as supervisor for the maintenance department at the Wrentham Developmental Center. He formerly was a truck driver for 11 years. He was a Navy veteran during the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Saratoga SVA60. He was a member and Deacon of the First Congregational Church of Sutton and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and was an avid fisherman.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26th in the First Congregational Church, 307 Boston Rd., on the common, in Sutton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 25th in Mulhane Home for Funeral, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be private in Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, 307 Boston Rd., Sutton, MA 01590.
