Lincoln H. Bordeaux, 89, died quietly Tuesday, June 30th at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
He leaves his wife of 49 years, Virginia H. (Heidtman) Bordeaux; a son, Lincoln Bruce Bordeaux and his wife, Deborah of Millbury; a daughter, Marsha E. Petrillo and her husband, Peter of Uxbridge; three granddaughters, Laura Petrillo-DeLuca, Jade Bordeaux and Melissa Petrillo; two great grandchildren; a brother, Richard A. Bordeaux and his wife, Nancy of Chatham; a sister, Barbara Harley of Harvard; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester and is predeceased by his parents, Foster H. and Rosa (Turner) Bordeaux and a brother, Robert T. Bordeaux.
Lincoln was president of the former Millbury Ford Mercury in Auburn, formerly Millbury Motor Company. He started working for the dealership when he was 14 years old for his father, who founded the company in 1923. He graduated from Millbury High School in 1943 and attended the University of North Carolina, the University of Notre Dame and Boston University. He was a member of the board of directors at the Millbury National Bank from 1972 to 2013, now an honorary member of the board for the past 3 years, a member and past president of the Millbury Historical Society, a member and past president of the U.S. Highland Cattle Association, a trustee of Higgins Armory in Worcester, former president of Worcester Chamber of Commerce, member of Worcester Art Museum, a trustee of Old Sturbridge Village, a member of the Worcester Old Car Club and a member of the Sutton Historical Society. He was a Navy veteran and was honorably discharged when WWII ended. He was a Sunday School teacher and active in church activities at the First Congregational Church in Sutton and was also active as a Boy Scout leader for many years.
Lincoln purchased his farm on Tainter Hill Road in the mid 1960's and raised horses, which he road in horse shows. He also purchased two Highland Cattle at that time and eventually had 30 on his property. He won national championships at shows with them in Ohio. Lincoln and his wife traveled extensively and attended these Highland Shows in every state in the United States. In Great Britain they meet Queen Elizabeth, who also raised Highland Cattle.
His funeral service will be held Monday July 6th at Noon in the First Congregational Church, 307 Boston Rd. in Sutton. A calling hour will be held from 11am to Noon, prior to the service, in the church. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery in Sutton. Mulhane Home for Funerals is assisting the family with the arrangements.
