Loretta Young

MILLBURY – Loretta M. (Salvatori) Young, 74, died Wednesday July 3rd in her home surrounded by her family, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

She leaves her husband, Robert G. Young; two daughters, Donna M. Young of Oxford, and Denise Kush and her husband, Frank, of Webster; one granddaughter, Katrina Kush of Marlborough; a brother-in-law, David Young of Clearwater, Florida, and many dear friends. She was born in Oxford and is predeceased by her mother, Rita (Dandurand) Bettencourt.

Raised in Oxford MA, she graduated from Oxford High, continuing to keep in touch with classmates throughout her life. Her early working life was spent doing office work until becoming a homemaker and full time mom through her early married years. Eventually, she returned to work and to school, earning an Associates degree from Quinsigamond Community College in 1986, and her bachelor’s degree from Nichols College in 1989. She worked as a real estate agent for several years before realizing her dream of owning and operating her own business for many years, dealing in antiques and consignment. Her interests and hobbies were many, including sewing, Scrabble, antiquing, painting, playing pitch, and travel. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Loretta’s life will be remembered by gathering for a time of visitation on Tuesday, July 9th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.  Her funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday July 10th in the funeral Home.  Burial will follow at West Millbury Cemetery in West Millbury.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Metrowest Hospice, via the Amedisys Foundation at www.amedisys.com; please specify the Marlborough, MA Hospice location.
