MILLBURY Lorraine M. (Puzo) Poirier Augusto, of 3 Washington Street, formerly of Worcester, died Thursday, Oct. 13th, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a long battle with cancer.
She leaves a son, Paul T. Poirier, Jr. of Millbury; Athena Poirier of Worcester; a sister, Anne Puzo of Worcester; two brothers, Kenneth Puzo of Millbury and Daniel Puzo of Worcester; three grandchildren Nicole A. Poirier and Michael P. Poirier of Worcester and Taylor C. Poirier of Leicester; several nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Elio Daniel and Dorothy (Shackette) Puzo.
Sweet Lorraine, as she was known, owned and operated the Central Diner in Millbury from 1990 to 1999. She then became manager of dining services at the College of the Holy Cross, in Worcester, and retired due to illness in 2004. Lorraine attended David Hale-Fanning Trade School and was a member of St. Marks Church, in Sutton. Her greatest love was her family and grandchildren. She was a great lover of the Caribbean Sea and visited there often. Her last voyage was completed with Father Ralph DiOrio in the Holy City of Medugorje, Yugoslavia.
LorraineTM)s calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17th, in the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. MarkTM)s Church, 356 Boston Rd., Sutton. Burial will be private.
