MILLBURY – Lydia E. (Westerberg) Anderson, 94, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 in the Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Northbridge.
She leaves a grandson, Michael D. Anderson and his wife, Kathleen and their children, Lydia's great-granddaughters, Ashley and Brooke Anderson of East Harwich; her nieces, Ann (Marble) Thurlow of Millbury, Sandra Westerberg of Worcester and Sr. Ruth of the Sisters of Jesus Crucified of Brockton; her nephews, Westell Kirk of Worcester, Wallace Westerberg of Worcester and Alan Marble of Millbury; numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews as well as relatives remaining in Sweden. She is predeceased by her husband, Lowell G. Anderson (1986) and two sons, Lowell D. "Skip" Anderson (1996) and Paul H. Anderson (2004); her siblings, Alfhild, Arthur, Anne, Carl, Thure, Mildred, David and Ruth and her special friend, Howard Cummings. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Gustov and Sophia (Anderson) Westerberg.
Lydia was an artist at Vaillancourt Folk Art in Sutton, now located in Manchaug, for 20 years where her signature piece was the Green Pointy. Previously she worked as a cashier at the former Anderson & Sunquist Grocery in Quinsigamond Village in Worcester. She was an active member from childhood in her church, the Bethlehem Covenant Church in Worcester. She graduated from the former Commerce High School in Worcester in 1936 and was a member of the Campers' Association and the "The Club".
Lydia's calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7th followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be private in All Faiths Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Covenant Church, 46 Greenwood St. Worcester, MA 01607.
