Madeline J. Credit, 77, formerly of Millbury, died Friday, September 2, 2016, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, with her family by her side, after an illness.

She leaves three children: Linda M. Chase, Bernard A. Chase III, with whom she lived, David P. Chase and his fiancAC.e Jean Mangini all of Sutton; two brothers: Richard Stockwell of Oxford and Alan Credit and his wife Sandra Credit, of Webster; two sisters: Mary Lange of Oxford and Anne Boudreau of Florida: grandchildren, Jennifer Morse and her husband Brent Morse, Julieanne Mangini and Joseph Mangini; great grandchildren, Wyatt Allen Morse and Ava Olivia Allard; her former husband, Bernard Chase, Jr., of Rumney, NH, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Mysty. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry J. Credit and Viola G. (Stockwell) Credit, Dodd, a brother, Joseph Credit and a sister, Jessie Lange. She was born in Worcester and grew up in Millbury, graduating from Millbury High School in 1957. In 1959, she married Bernard Chase, Jr. They lived in Grafton and Sutton, where they raised their family.

She worked for the Millbury Welfare Department and then 33 years for the United States Postal Service. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Sutton. She enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Celtics, attending Worcester State University women's volleyball games which her son coached, reading, listening to music, doing puzzles, spending time on Lake Singletary, and most of all, spending time with her family and her dog. The family would like to thank all the staff at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, especially on 8 West and 6 West, for all their kindness and compassion during her illness.

Her wishes were to have a Funeral Mass and burial only. Her funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10th in St. Mark's Church, 356 Boston Rd., in Sutton. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery in Sutton. There are no calling hours.
