MILLBURY Margaret M. "Peggy" (Fitzgibbons) Cronan, 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 7th in the Beaumont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Northbridge, surrounded by her family.
She leaves her husband of 68 years, Robert E. Cronan Sr.; a daughter, Marie P. Jolly and her companion, Barry Astukewicz of Sutton; a son, Robert E. Cronan, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Millbury; seven grandchildren, Glen Cronan, Barbara Heney, Sharon Duquette, Linda Hicks, Melissa Robbins, Jodi Gale and Kathi-Ann Dansereau; fifteen, great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. This is her so called Clan that she was so proud of. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester and lived in the Vernon Hill section before moving to Millbury. She is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Mary (Leonard) Fitzgibbons, two brothers, James and Francis Fitzgibbons; two sisters, Dorothy Burke and Mary McNamara.
Mrs. Cronan worked at the former A&P Store in Millbury and Worcester for many years and along with her husband owned and operated the former CronanTM)s Cafe in Millbury. She was a member of the Millbury Council on Aging and St. Brigid Church. Margaret enjoyed attending many of her husbandTM)s WWII Reunions all over the country, where she made many new friends.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 11th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salmon Hospice Care, 43 Beaumont Drive, Northbridge, MA 01534.
