MILLBURY - Marie F. Cafferty, 83, passed away on February 8, 2021.
Marie was born in Springfield, PA in 1937, and grew-up in Springfield and Cedarhurst, LI, NY. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in European History from the College of New Rochelle, NY, and her Master’s Degree from Assumption College in Massachusetts. Marie eventually settled in Massachusetts, and taught History and ESL in North High School and Burncoat Junior High School. There she influenced many young lives, and eventually retired after 37 years of teaching.
Marie had a community-minded spirit and was committed to helping others. She was active in Girls Scouts and was the District Director of Montachusetts Girl Scouts Round Up. Deeply committed to Millbury causes, Marie was a member of the Millbury Charter Review Committee, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, mentored young adults, and was involved in dog and cat rescue.
A voracious reader, Marie was never without a book and was also an avid gardener and cook. Marie was extremely artistic, and enjoyed viewing and creating all forms of art. Her work included prize-winning watercolor landscapes and professional quality photographic endeavors; Marie enjoyed the friendship and support of her Aquatherapy teammates at the Whitinsville Pool.
She is survived by her sister, Cordelia Cafferty. Marie’s life was a blessing, and her memory is a comfort.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Marie’s funeral service and burial will be private.
