Marlene J. Horner

MILLBURY - Marlene J. (Legassey) Horner, 76, died Wednesday, January 22, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness.

Marlene was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Jerry D. Horner died in 2005 and her daughter Mary Elizabeth Horner died in 2010. She leaves six children: Jerry Horner Jr. and his wife, Anna Bitgood of Severn, MD, Teresa wife of Richard Giordano of Chelmsford, Beth Ann Oliveira of Millbury, Marlene wife of Marc Millette of Millbury, Heather wife of Frank DeFilippi of Londonderry, NH and Robert Horner and his wife, Carrie Carbonneau of Rutland; a sister, Mary Beth, wife of Kevin Cotter of Northbridge; 8 grandchildren. 

Marlene was born in Worcester, daughter of Adelard and June (Letendre) Legassey and lived in Millbury most of her life. She graduated from Millbury Memorial High School in 1966. After graduation, she enjoyed a career in banking, working at Bay State Savings Bank, Millbury Credit Union and the Millbury National Bank. Her passion was her family and caring for her grandchildren, who gave her much pride. An important family member was Gizmo, her Shih tzu, whom she loved very much. Being an animal lover, Marlene supported many animal causes throughout the years. She also participated in religious activities associated with her parish. Football was a highlight of the Fall season, when she enjoyed cheering on the Patriots, as a devoted fan.

Marlene’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 27th at 11 a.m. at St. Brigid Church 59 North Main St. Millbury, MA 01527. Those who are attending the Mass are asked to go directly to the church. 

She will be laid to rest at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
