MILLBURY - Mary Elizabeth “Lisa” Forrest (Howe) Mamishian, 62,  passed away peacefully on February 13, 2019 in the house that she made a home. She faced the challenges of her illness with the extraordinary strength and dignity she was admired for.

Lisa was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to George and Dorothy (Lloyd) Howe who predeceased her. Her family relocated to West Hartford, CT where she grew up. She moved to Boston while attending and then graduating from Northeastern University.

She is survived by Michael V., her devoted husband of 34 years, her cherished daughter Allison H., who was the light of her life, her dear brother Charlie, his wife Kathryn and Sarah, her closest friend of 60 years.  She was affectionately called “Auntie Lisa” by Adam, Conrad and his wife, Marta, Emily and her husband, Haik, Aram and Jenni and most recently she became the great-aunt of Layla Rose. Lisa shared a close sisterly bond with Melanie and Valerie. She was called “mom” by many because of the unceasing maternal care and unconditional love she provided.

She worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Psychiatric Social Worker and left that career after moving to Millbury to raise Allison. She started as a volunteer for the Millbury Public School system (so she could keep a lovingly watchful eye on Allison) and ended up working at the Elmwood Street Elementary School for over 20 years in many capacities. “Mrs. M” was loved and respected by all the students, faculty and staff who came in contact with her.

Christmas was Lisa’s favorite holiday. Annually, for over 25 years, she delighted in filling their home with family and friends to celebrate the holiday. They’d partake of the delicious meals she’d lovingly prepare. She miraculously summoned the energy to celebrate one last time in 2018.

She’ll be deeply missed by her family and all those who benefitted from her wise counsel during the difficult times in their lives.

We humbly extend our heartfelt thanks to Der Aved for his spiritual support, caring and guidance during this most difficult time.

Family and friends will honor and remember Lisa’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Monday, Feb 18th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street in Worcester.

Her Funeral Service will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the church.  Burial will be private.
