MILLBURY– Maureen Alice (Connelly) Mitchell, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 27, 2024, at home surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous battle against cancer. “Mo” was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.
Maureen was born August 18, 1943, in Weymouth MA, daughter of the late David and Alice (O’Donahue) Connelly.
Maureen is survived by her son Roland “Stephen” Mitchell, of FL, her daughter Jill Leong, her daughter Laura Mitchell, of Marlborough, and her son David Mitchell and his wife Kim, of Millbury; grandchildren, Jessica Whitehouse and her husband Mark, RJ, Michael, Sophia, Carli, Declan and Jameson; great grandchildren, Eloise, Maxwell and Benjamin. Maureen is also survived by her sister Catherine McLaughlin and her husband Robert of Plymouth, MA and her brother Richard Connelly and his wife Debra of VA. Maureen is predeceased by her sister Isabel Connelly and her husband of 55 years Roland E. Mitchell.
Maureen was a lifelong member of the catholic church. Her faith and love of God always left room for those in need and a seat at her table. For much of her career Maureen was a Market Merchandiser for General Mills, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. Maureen’s greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren. Maureen could often be described as regal lady due to her love of fashion and shopping, never to be seen without her lipstick on. Maureen was not just the life of the party; she was the party. Maureen was always up for an adventure whether it was a month-long road trip with her best friend Barbara or dancing at many concerts, she had a zest for life that was indescribable. She will be missed and cherished by all those who knew her.
Family and friends will honor and remember Maureen’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Tuesday, July 9th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 10th at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street in Worcester. Burial will be private.
