SUTTON / MILLBURY – Maurice A. Roberts, 91, of Sutton, formerly of Millbury, died Monday, Feb. 22nd in UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
His first wife, Marjorie L. (Banks) Roberts died in 1970 and his second wife, Barbara L. (Smethurst) Roberts, died in 2003. He leaves a daughter, Maureen A. Roberts and her husband Philip Walsh of Sutton, with whom he lived; a son, Ronald G. Roberts and his wife Linda of Grafton; five grandchildren, Jason, Julie, Kate, Patrick and Jonathan; a sister, Joan McGarry and her husband J. Allen of Tucson AZ; a step-daughter, Judith Feinsilver of Boca Raton, FL; nieces and nephews. He was born in Millbury and is predeceased by his parents, William and Delia (Bernier) Roberts and a brother, Gerald Roberts. He graduated from Millbury High School in 1938.
"Moe" Roberts owned and operated Roberts Package Store in Millbury for 33 years, retiring in 1979. He was an Army Air Corps veteran during WW II and was a member of the Devoe-Taylor American Legion Post. He attended the annual banquets of the Millbury Old Timers for many years and was honored as an invited guest at the last banquet in November.
His funeral service will be held at Noon Saturday, Feb. 27th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. A calling hour will be held from 11 a.m. to Noon prior to the funeral service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Millbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
