Melva Pickett

October 3, 1924 — July 29, 2007

MILLBURY Melva E. (Norton) Pickett, 82, of 4 Gould St., died Sunday, July 29th in her home, after an illness.

She leaves her husband, Thomas F. Pickett; a son, Thomas E. Pickett of Mechanic Falls, ME; three sisters, Margaret Smith of Oxford, and Marietta White and Mildred Brosnihan both of Millbury; two grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, and is predeceased by her parents, Ralph E. and Melva E. Norton and five brothers, Eugene, Raymond, Ralph, George and Robert Norton.

Mrs. Pickett was a secretary for State Representative Richard Dwinell, before she retired. Previously she worked for the Millbury School Department. She also formerly worked in the Millbury Town Clerks office and was a former secretary for the Millbury Selectmen. Many years ago she was very active in the YWCA in Worcester.

Her funeral will be held Thursday, Aug. 2nd from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. BrigidTM)s Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be private in Central Cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1st in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Care Network, Inc. Development Office 120 Thomas Street Worcester, MA 01608-1280.
