WORCESTER –Michael "Chicka" Childs, 62, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from complications of COPD and Leukemia.
He was born in Worcester, son of Berton W. Childs, and Michelena (DiSilvestero) Childs who predeceased him. He is survived by his three children the pride and joy of his life, Ashley of Boston, Joseph of Somerville, and Melissa of Worcester.
He also leaves two brothers, Bert Childs and his wife Cyndi of Easley, SC, and Richard Childs and his wife Cathy of Newport News, VA. He also leaves his sister Cynthia Childs of Paxton as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mike was a graduate of North High school, and worked for many years at Digital Equipment Company. He was currently employed as a driver for Fisher Auto Parts. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Herbie's Golf League. He loved all sports but was most passionate about soccer. He could always be found on "Soccer Saturday" in front of the TV with his best friend and cousin, Alan enjoying the games.
At the request of the family, funeral services will be private. Mulhane Funeral Home of Millbury is assisting the family with arrangements. Mike's greatest asset was his heart of gold, and in his memory, we would simply ask that you remember him by performing a random act of kindness, as he always did for others.
