MILLBURY – Michael S. Habenstreit, 57, died Friday, March 23, 2012 in Providence, RI after a courageous battle with cancer.
Michael leaves his daughter, Nicole M. Smith and her two children, Evelyn and Alex of Worcester and his mother, Anita (Durand) Habenstreit of Millbury. He is predeceased by his father, William R. Habenstreit who died in 1973 and a grandson, Edwin who passed in 2005.
He especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He also volunteering at the VA Hospital of Providence and helped many people through various organizations in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Michael served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.
Michael's funeral will be held on Saturday, March 31st from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St., in Worcester. Calling hours are the morning of the funeral Saturday, March 31st from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans c/o Gift Processing, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH, 45250.
