MILLBURY- Michael R. Hanlan, 67, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, March 17th St. Patrick’s Day, after a long battle with dementia.
Mike leaves his wife of 38 years, Deborah P. (Murphy) Hanlan; four children, Michael Hanlan, Jr. of Millbury, Ross Hanlan and his wife, Naomi of Stanford, VT, Kate McGreevy and her husband, John of Millbury and Kelsey Hanlan of Millbury; three grandchildren, Melrose and Sonny McGreevy and Finn Hanlan; five siblings, John “Jackie” Hanlan and his wife, Mary of Shrewsbury, Mary Lou Hutchins of Leicester, Debra Woodcome of Worcester, Donald Hanlan and his wife, Sandra of Plymouth and Patricia Plante and her husband, Jonathan of Leicester; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, James and Mary (Foley) Hanlan; a sister, Joan Goodwin and a brother, James Hanlan.
Mike owned and operated Colony Farms in Webster Square, Worcester for many years. He loved going to work and interacting with the customers, the friendships he made with his customers were cherished by Mike. He loved his summers in Green Harbor, he will always be known as the only one who could catch the most fish off the beach. Mike was an avid golfer, loved music, his clean cars and a good card game. He was an active member in AA and always strived to help others in the program. Most of all he loved spending time traveling with his family and spending time with friends. Mike will be remembered as someone who could light up a room whenever he entered.
The family would like to thank Summit Eldercare, especially his nurse Mary, the Visiting Nurse Association, all his care takers Martha, Hannah, Marianna and especially Nana whose dedication to Mike helped him stay in his home for many years.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mike’s life with calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 21st in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 22nd at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street in Millbury. For those not able to attend, the Funeral Mass will be live streamed from Mike’s tribute page on the funeral homes website.
Burial will be private.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and a memorial donation be made to the
