MILLBURY Nancy Ann (Obraitis) Mayer, 58, died Saturday, March 6th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
She leaves her husband, George E. Mayer Jr.; three sons, Scott M. Mayer of Mashpee, Christopher J. Mayer of Millbury and Michael T. Mayer of Millbury; three grandchildren, Ryan, Zachary and Tyler; her father, William V. Obraitis of Worcester; a brother, William J. Obraitis of Worcester; two sisters, Janet Locke of Oxford and Christine Rogan of FL; nieces and nephews. Nancy was born in Worcester and is predeceased by her mother, Aldona (Paulauskus) Obraitis.
Nancy graduated from North High School and Memorial School of Nursing in Worcester. She was a LPN for many years working in the Providence House Nursing Home in Millbury. She also volunteered delivering meals at the Millbury Senior Center and enjoyed working with the elderly. Nancy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. MayerTM)s funeral will be held Tuesday, March 9th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 8th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Mass, 460 Totten Pond Rd., Waltham, 02451.
