Napoleon Ledoux

June 12, 1922 — January 8, 2010

GRAFTON Napoleon "Fred" Ledoux, 87, of South Grafton, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 8th in St. Francis Home in Worcester.

He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Mae L. (Wigren) Ledoux who passed in 2002 and his son, Robert W.Ledoux who passed in 2000. He leaves a granddaughter, Merrillee A. Anderson and her husband Todd J. Anderson of Indiana and two great grandchildren, Todd J. Anderson Jr. and Emily Mae Anderson; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Ledoux of East Douglas; and a brother-in-law, Russell Wigren of Worcester Among his many nieces, he leaves a niece, who was his care giver, Sandra Ballard of Millbury.

He graduated from Northbridge High School in 1941 and entered the U.S. Navy in 1942 where he served in distinction as a corpsman seeing action off the beaches of Normandy and during the Allied invasion of the Philippines and Okinawa. He received the Purple Heart, the American Campaign Metal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal for his heroic endeavors.

Mr. Ledoux was a machinist at Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville for 46 years. He was a member of St. James Church of South Grafton. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He and his wife loved to travel and belonged to the Flickering Flames Camping Club. He was an avid gardener and loved working with his hands. He and his son restored cars and built the home in East Douglas where his daughter-in-law now resides. In later life he became an avid card player.

His funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 14th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, 89 Main St. in South Grafton. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton, with military honors. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his name to St James Church, 89 Main St. South Grafton, MA 01560.
