Norman R. "Rex" Anyon Sr., 88, died peacefully Thursday, Feb. 27th in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the son of Ernest and Louise (Dolbec) Anyon and is predeceased by his siblings, Roger, Annamae, Henry, and Virginia. He was a Sutton resident, married to Phyllis A. (Wrightson) Anyon, for 55 years who passed away in 2010, also predeceased two sons, Robert, Brian and granddaughter Caitlyn. He leaves four sons, Michael and his longtime companion, Theresa, Norman Jr. and his wife, Brenda, Terrance and his wife, Tammy all of Sutton, John and his wife, Melinda of IL; a daughter, Tess DiDonato and her husband, Tony of Dudley; three grandchildren; a sister Rose; a brother, Ernest and many nephews and nieces.
He was born in Springfield and attended Sutton High School. He entered WWII enlisting in the United States Marine Corps at age 17 in 1942, serving 21 years. During the war he participated in but not limited to the Northern Solomon Islands, Guadalcanal and Okinawa. He also served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He worked as a machinist at Astrofoam retiring in 1988. He enjoyed boating, building model planes and spending time at the Uxbridge VFW Post.
The family would like to express their gratitude to their extended family, his friend/caretaker Donna and his cherished friends at the Uxbridge VFW Post.
His funeral will be held Thursday, March 6th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mark's Church, 356 Boston Rd. in Sutton. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery in Sutton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday March 5th in the funeral home.
