SUTTON Norris H. Corey, 80, of 459 Boston Rd., died Saturday, Oct. 7th in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a short illness.
He leaves his wife, Nancy E. (Carlson) Corey; two sons, Jeffrey L. and his wife, Rebecca Corey of Princeton, NJ and Robert N. and his wife JoAnne Corey of Superior CO; two daughters, Vicki J. wife of Alan Portais of Millbury and Diane A. wife of Bruce Millard of Barringtron, RI; seven grandchildren, Bruce, Corey, and Robert Millard, Scott and Shanna Corey and Megan and Ryan Corey; a brother, Roger M. and his wife Katherine Corey of Grafton; nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of Clement and Alice (Hodgson) Corey. He graduated from Millbury High School on "D" Day, June 6th 1944 and then attended Worcester Poly-Tech for two years.
Norris was Chief System Dispatcher at New England Power Co. in Westborough where he worked for 40 years, retiring in 1988. He was a Navy veteran of WW II serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was a member and former Deacon of the First Congregational Church in Sutton and was a charter member of the Sutton Community Players Club and past member of the Worcester Old Car Club. He was an accomplished furniture maker, loved photography and traveling.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct 11th, at the First Congregational Church, 307 Boston Rd., On the Common, Sutton. Burial will be in West Sutton Cemetery, Sutton. Calling hours are 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10th, in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Congregational Church, 307 Boston Rd, Sutton, MA 01590.
