MILLBURY – Patricia M. (Donohue) Hamilton, 86, died Friday, Feb. 23rd in her home, surrounded by her family, after a long illness.
Patricia leaves her loving husband of 63 years, Thomas A. Hamilton, Jr., three sons, Thomas P. Hamilton and his wife Susan of South Windsor, CT, Robert J. Hamilton and his wife Jody Barron of Framingham, and Brian J. Hamilton and his wife Debra of Douglas: three daughters, Mary P. Johnson and her husband Richard of Braintree, Eileen M. Hamilton of Millbury, and Monica M. Hamilton of Auburn. Patricia also leaves seven grandchildren, Rachel Siok, Monica L. Hamilton, Julia Hamilton, Robert Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, Lily Hamilton, and Jake Hamilton and one great grandson (really great) Theo Siok. In addition, Patricia leaves her sisters, Mary Shaughnessy of Williamsville, NY, Helen Poff of Clinton, and Ann Donohue of Clinton and a brother, Dr. Robert J. Donohue and his wife Ellen of Holyoke and many nieces and nephews. Patricia was born in Clinton and is predeceased by her parents, Robert J. and Mary (Burke) Donohue and a brother, Judge James Donohue.
Patricia graduated from Clinton High School in 1948 and from Worcester State College in 1952. Soon after, she received her Master’s degree in Education from Worcester State and there she met her future husband Tom – when asked what she got out of her class, she replied ‘Tom Hamilton’. They were married in August, 1954.
Patricia, who always loved children, fittingly became a first grade teacher at the former Middlesex Avenue School in Worcester. Later, after becoming a full-time Mom, she continued working with children as a Catholic Christian Doctrine teacher at St. Brigid’s Church in Millbury.
Patricia will be remembered as a feisty defender of her family, her God, her church, her country, and her Irish heritage. May the road rise to meet her…We love you Mom.
Family and friends will honor and remember Patricia’s life by gathering for calling hours on Tuesday, February 27th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main St. in Millbury. Her funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 28th at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main St. in Millbury. Burial will follow in St. Brigid’s Cemetery in Millbury.
