SUTTON – Pearl Ina (Holm) Cressey, 83 of Sutton, passed away, Saturday, May 28, 2011.
Her husband of 55 years, William Cressey, Sr. passed in January 2010. She leaves her son, William Cressey, Jr. and his wife Janice and sons Marc, Eric and Craig all of Dudley, and a daughter Paula Marcangelo of Hull and her son Steven. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Pearl was born in Worcester on July 21, 1927 and was the daughter of Mr. Peter J. and Ina Holm, natives of Finland who arrived in the United States through Ellis Island. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and the Peacock Beauty Academy in Worcester. She worked as a beautician for several years and more recently was a clerk for Millbury Towne Florist and also worked for Salo Florist. Pearl was always happy to travel the country with her beloved husband Bill, host family and friends for backyard picnics, serve on various church committees, treat her grandsons to personal fun filled days and of course cheer up loved ones with letters and home-made flower arrangements. Her kind words and expressions will never be forgotten. She was bi-lingual and spoke Finnish and English. Pearl was a devoted wife and mother and loving grandmother. She enjoyed her swimming pool, designing flower arrangements, arts and crafts and was a kind-hearted, down to earth woman. She was a cancer survivor. She is a past matron of Adah Chapter Order of Eastern Star of Millbury which merged with Pakachoag Chapter of Auburn. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Sutton and Woman's Fellowship of the church.
The family would like to thank UMASS Memorial Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful in-home care she and Bill received, especially Mrs. Peggy Dymek and the staff of visiting nurses who truly went above and beyond. And more recently, thank you to the dedicated, caring, and professional Staff at Millbury Health Care Center, Millbury and Care Alternative Hospice of Marlboro. The family is grateful for your kindness.
