Pennie (Putnam) Linder, 75, passed away Monday, June 9th after a long illness.
Pennie leaves two children, K. Martin Linder and his partner, Carol Botty and Joy M. Linder all of Sutton; four grandchildren, Rebekah, Lucas, and Elizabeth Nydam and Mikaela Linder. She also leaves her ex-husband, Kenneth Linder. She is predeceased by her parents, David T. and Ruth (Shaw) Putnam and her brother, David J. Putnam.
Pennie graduated from Sutton High School. She had a varied career as a waitress, travel agent and painter at Vaillancourt Folk Art. She bred and showed golden retrievers for many years. She was well known as a dedicated and outspoken member in her community. She was on the Board of Directors for Waters Farm Preservation and Sutton Historical Society. She was also a member of the Hillside Club of West Sutton, the Sutton 300 Committee and founding member of the Sutton Garden Club where her gardens were showcased on their tours.
Pennie will be remembered not only for her many talents and creativity but for her strong, feisty, independent spirit. She said what she meant and meant what she said. She was proud to be the 7th generation to live on her family's 300 year old farm where her love of antiques, animals, gardening and cooking created memories that will be forever treasured by her family.
Pennie's calling hours will be held on Friday, June 13th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main Street in Millbury. Her funeral service will be private.
Per her request, her ashes, along with those of her beloved dog, Slinky, will be combined and scattered "to the four winds" across the fields of her family's homestead.
