Phyllis E. Kaseta, 90, of Sturbridge passed away peacefully in her home on February 12, 2023 after a period of declining health.
Phyllis leaves behind her four sons: Donald Kaseta of Winslow, Maine, David Kaseta and his wife Lisa of Charlton, Brian Kaseta and his partner Charlotte of Cary Plantation, Maine, and Bruce Kaseta and his wife Paula of Oxford. She will be missed by her three grandchildren: Melody Thompson and her husband Timothy of Sutton, Kelli Hicks and her husband Michael of Barre, and Christopher Kaseta of Long Beach, California. She will also be remembered by her five great-grandchildren: Maddie and Brendan Thompson of Sutton and Michael, Jordan and Ryan Hicks of Barre. Phyllis also leaves cousins and other extended family members.
Phyllis was born in Worcester, the oldest daughter of the late Howard and Marjorie (Preston) Lowe of Millbury. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was pre-deceased by her beloved oldest son Joseph (Jay) Kaseta and her two sisters Alice Fadden and Susan Gover.
A graduate of Millbury Memorial High School Class of 1950, Phyllis lived most of her life in Millbury and Auburn before moving to Sturbridge five years ago. She worked as a driving instructor for many years at LaPorte Auto Driving School, and later began a secretarial career for the state, working at the Department of Revenue and Westboro State Hospital. After retirement, Phyllis delivered lunches for Meals on Wheels. Phyllis enjoyed traveling around the country to visit her many cousins and other relatives. She also enjoyed playing bingo at the Senior Centers in Millbury and Auburn, and watching the Boston Red Sox. Phyllis was a long-time member of First Congregational Church in Millbury.
The Kaseta family would like to thank Phyllis’ caregiver Michael Touchette for the compassionate care he provided to her over the past several months. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services. Phyllis will be buried with her son Jay at Central Cemetery in Millbury.
