MILLBURY – Randolph G. "Randy" Mogren Jr., 80, died Tuesday, Dec. 8th in his home.

He leaves his wife, Audrey M. (Conley) Mogren; four sons, Mark and his wife Casey of Newburyport, Scott and his wife Susan of Holliston, Todd and his wife Lisa of Marlborough, CT, and Randy and his wife Karen of Millbury; thirteen grandchildren, Ali, Matthew, Grace, Kelly, Myles, Curtis, Lee, Benjamin, Jessy, Paige, Meredith, Randy and Nicholas. He is also survived by a sister, Virginia Pano of Worcester. He was born in Worcester and is predeceased by his mother Ina (Laurin) Mogren Kronberg, father, Randolph G. Mogren, Sr., stepfather, Oscar Kronberg and sister, Lois DeBlois.

Randy is a life-long resident of Millbury and spent 50 years serving its youth as both an educator and volunteer to many youth organizations.

He received his B.S. in Elementary Education from Worcester State College in 1952, then served two years in the US Army during the Korean War, after which he completed a Masters Degree in Education at the same school in 1961. He spent 15 years as a teacher and principal in Auburn and 21 years as Assistant Principal in Millbury. Randy served on the Millbury School Committee for 9 years, 1962 to 1971.

Randy was one of the founding members of the Millbury Lions Club and served as its second President. He was a member of the 1976 Bicentennial Celebration Committee, an active member of the Millbury Federated Church serving on the Board of Management for many years, chairman of the Millbury Parks Department, coach of girls and boys Pee Wee basketball for 30 years, coach and President of the Millbury Little League for 40 years.

Randy was an Eagle Scout and served on the Board of Directors for Troop 109. He was Grand Master Olive Branch Lodge in 1961 and was an active mason for many years. He was Past President of the Worcester County Teachers Association; Past President of Worcester County Numismatic Association and an avid coin collector; Grand Marshall of the Millbury July 4th Parade in 2006. He received the Outstanding Volunteer Service to the Community Award in 2002 from Worcester State College and in 1999 was the recipient the Millbury's Man of Distinction at the Annual Old Timers Banquet.

His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12th in the Millbury Federated Church, 20 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Millbury Little League in c/o Millbury National Bank, 18 Main St., Millbury, MA 01527 or to the Memorial Fund of the Millbury Federated Church, 20 Main St., Millbury, MA 01527.
