PORT CHARLOTTE, FLORIDA - Richard E. Legere Sr., 56, of Port Charlotte, formerly of Charlton and South Grafton, Ma., died Thursday, July 19, in his home, after a long illness.
He leaves three sons, Jeffrey R. Legere, Kenneth O. Legere and Richard E. Legere Jr. all of Port Charlotte; a daughter, Kim McNeaney of Charlton, Ma.; his former wife and close companion, Joan (Marcoux) Legere of Port Charlotte; a brother, Robert J. Legere of Whitinsville, Ma.; two sisters, Elaine Duby of Millbury, Ma. and Theresa Brown of Reno, Nevada; eleven grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Robert J. and Irene (Dunn) Legere and lived in Charlton before he moved to Florida in 1988.
Mr. Legere was owner and operator of Legere Concrete Specialties in Port Charlotte. When he lived in Charlton he owned and operated Charlton Hardware for 6 years.
While living in Massachusetts he was a founder of the Southern Worcester County Landlord Association, a board member of the Charlton Credit Union, the first executive director of the Charlton Housing Authority and a landlord in Southbridge.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, in Fairview Cemetery, South Grafton, Ma. A funeral Mass was held Saturday, July 21, in St. Francis of Assisi Church in Grove City, Florida. Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, Ma. is in charge of the local arrangements.
