MILLBURY – Richard M. Warren, 80, died Tuesday, May 17th surrounded by his family, after a long illness.
His wife, Mary T. (McArdle) Warren died in 1988. He leaves a daughter, Mary Beth Dunn and her husband, Dennis of Holden; a son, Joseph M. Warren and his wife and Richard's devoted care giver, Kathleen of Oxford; a brother, William Warren and his wife, Vern of Redwood City, CA; six grandchildren, Dan-yelle Buxton and her husband, David of Oxford, Julie Bacon and her husband, Scott of Grafton, Joshua Warren and his wife, Allison of Grafton, Katie Mae Padilla and her husband, Manny of Millbury, Bryan Dunn and his wife Melissa of Northborough and Matthew Dunn of Holden; eight great grandchildren, Kayla and Makenzie Bacon, Hannah and Isabella Buxton, Tyler and Elaina Warren, Liam and Neala Dunn and an expected great grandchild in June. He was born in Worcester and is predeceased by his parents, Chester and Doris (McNamara) Warren and a son, James Warren.
He was a member of Local #4 of International Union of Operating Engineers, retiring years ago. He was a Marine Corp veteran, during the Korean War, receiving two Purple Hearts, one Gold Star and the Combat Action Ribbon. During his service he served twice as honor guard for then President Harry S. Truman. He was a member and former Commander of the Charles F. Minney Post VFW in Millbury. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling to many different countries.
His funeral will be held Friday, May 20th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 19th in the funeral home.
