Rita M. Howard, 92, died Sunday, Feb. 15th peacefully in her sleep at Life Care Center of Auburn, after a long illness.
Daughter of Joseph A. and Bertha M. (Roy) Maynard, she graduated from Millbury High School in 1939. Rita retired from Norton Company after 25 years of loyal service. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, playing the organ and spending time with her many nephews and nieces. Later in life Rita retired to a log cabin on the shores of Webster Lake, she continued to actively attend Masses and other functions at St. Brigid Parish in Millbury.
Rita survived her husband, Stephen J. Howard, two brothers, Ernest and Robert Maynard. She leaves two sisters, Marjorie E. Gosselin of Fort Myers, FL and Irene B. Sullivan of Millbury, along with many sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Rita's funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 19th with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main Street in Millbury. A calling hour will be held prior to the Mass from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be held in Central Cemetery in Millbury.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220.
