SUTTON - Rita A. (Choiniere) Johnson, 82, of 455 Boston Rd., formerly of Church St. and Worcester, died Friday, Oct. 11, in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Campus, Worcester.
Her husband of 49 years, Robert E. Johnson, died in 1991. She leaves a daughter, Janet R. Melia of Sutton with whom she lived; three grandchildren, Garry and Glenn Melia of Sutton and Erinn Evans of Worcester; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Oby of Worcester, Loretta Hagerty of Oxford and Claire Cofsky of Arizona; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Eugene and Albina (Grenier) Choiniere.
Mrs. Johnson was a seamstress at the former Stevens Sportswear of Worcester and worked at the former O.C. White Company in Leicester, before she retired in 1983.
She was a member of St. MarkTM)s Church and was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the South Works Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Worcester.
A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Marks Church, 356 Boston Rd. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are private for family members.
