Rita C. (Feeley) Stencel, a longtime resident of Millbury and Worcester died on February 27, at the Jewish Healthcare Center.

Her husband of 60 years, Chester S. Stencel Sr. predeceased her in 2003.

She leaves her three sons, Chester S. Stencel Jr. husband of Roberta, John W. Stencel husband of Eileen, both of Auburn, James E. "Jay" Stencel of Shrewsbury, and her daughter Rita C. "Rikay" wife of Robert Lundberg of Charlton; seven grandchildren, Robert Lundberg Jr., Matthew, John Jr., and Jason Stencel, Catherine Cahill, Dr. Lauren Reutenauer, and Dr. Jennifer Baerenwald; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Samuel, Maeve, Jenna and Quinn; three brothers, Paul of Worcester, James of Northborough and Joseph of Grafton; two sisters, Patricia East of St. Petersburg FL and Ruth Walsh of Milford CT; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Andrew Stencel of Auburn, a daughter-in-law Deborah Stencel of Shrewsbury, four brothers, John, Richard and Wilfred of Worcester, and Harold Feeley of Milford CT and three sisters, Helen Vela of La Mirada CA, Mary Henning of Los Angeles CA, and Catherine Phelan of Milford CT.

First born child of the late James E. and Catherine R. (Erb) Feeley, Rita lived in Worcester until she moved to Millbury in 1955. After graduating from St. Peter's High School in 1935, Rita worked at the Worcester Courthouse and United Fruit Co. After marriage, Rita was a homemaker. When her children were in school, Rita worked as a candy maker at Hebert's Candy Mansion and as a clerk at First National Stores. Rita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by all of us.

Rita was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church where for many years she was a CCD teacher and a lector. She was parishioner of the month, and a member of the women's guild, serving a term as president and an active member and volunteer at the Millbury Senior Center. Rita enjoyed travelling, and was a member of the Rambling Pilgrims, the Good Sam Club, the Blackstone Valley Association, served as secretary of the Wyman Gordon Campers, and was recording secretary for many years for the Worcester Chapter of NAFCA. She was a founding member of the East Millbury Community Association.
The family thanks the staff of Dodge Park Rest Home and the Jewish Healthcare Center for their kind, compassionate, loving care of Rita.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 5th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. Millbury with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St., Worcester. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at St. John's cemetery.

Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. on March 4th in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rita's name may be made to the St. John's Food for the Poor, 44 Temple Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
