Robert P. Hackett, 76, died Saturday, Aug. 23rd in his home, after an illness.
He leaves his wife, Josephine S. (Schmitz) Hackett; five children, Michael J., Heidi and her husband, Albert Getty, Robert and his wife, Mary, Jody, Daniel and his wife, Cassandra, Jonathan and his wife, Rachel; four grandchildren, Derek, Thomas, Austin and Melanie; a brother, Richard Hackett of Millbury; four god children; a brother-in-law; nephews, a niece, uncles, aunts and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, Paul L. and Eva (Helie) Hackett; his grandparents, Oscar and Mable Healy and a brother, Billy Hackett.
Robert was an U. S. Air Force veteran with the 307th Fighter Bomber Squardin, F100's. He was a trailer truck driver for Sweet Life for 28 years and for Penske Trucking and Leasing Co. for 17 years. He was a member of the Charles F. Minney VFW Post in Millbury and the Dudley-Gendron American Legion Post in Sutton.
His Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27th in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury. Mulhane Home for Funerals in Millbury is assisting the family with the arrangements.
A reception will be held immediately following the cemetery service in St. Brigid Church Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. Millbury, MA 01527.
