MILLBURY - Robert P. “Bob” LaCrosse, Sr., 88, died on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, with his family by his side.
Bob was born on Rhodes Street in Millbury to the late Edward and Mary (Lynch) LaCrosse spending his childhood living on Burbank St. He was very proud to say he was from the Bramanville section of Millbury, “God’s Country.”
He was married for 53 years to Helen R. (Mielnicki) LaCrosse until her death in 2010. Bob was a life-long resident of Millbury as well as a life-long parishioner of St. Brigid Church, where he ushered and passed the offering basket for over 50 years. He graduated from Millbury High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as an artillery mechanic. He worked at the Felter’s Mill, operated the Mobil service station, and once owned the Sunoco service station all in Millbury. In addition, Bob worked for American Income Life Ins. and ended his career working at Millbury Motors when he retired in 1995. Bob also coached Millbury Little League and Millbury Senior League.
He leaves his son Robert P. LaCrosse, Jr. of Millbury and his daughter Sharon Markey and her husband, Thomas of Stratham, NH; five grandchildren, Megan (Markey), wife of Christopher Goodsell of Severn, MD, Derek LaCrosse of Philadelphia, PA, James Markey and his significant other Elizabeth Harpin of Dover, NH, Brandon and Alex LaCrosse both of Millbury; two great granddaughters, Ava and Leah, of Severn, MD. He also leaves two sisters-in-laws, Elaine (White) LaCrosse of Millbury and Rosalie (Mielnicki) Graveline of South Yarmouth, MA and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by 15 brothers and sisters: Evelyn James, Margaret Stockwell, Dorothy Minney, Mabel Stockwell, Rita Koziara, Charles E. LaCrosse, William J. LaCrosse, Edward LaCrosse, Donald LaCrosse, Eleanor Lynn, Charles M. LaCrosse, Elizabeth Riedle, Bernice Pomerleau, Barbara Gary, and William LaCrosse.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bob’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Monday, Dec. 3rd from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4th at St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street in Millbury. Burial will follow at St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury.
