MILLBURY – Robert K. Picking, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 2nd with his loving family by his side.
Bob leaves his wife of 62 years, Virginia “Ginny” (Wilbur) Picking; a son, John Picking and his wife, Nancy of Grafton; four grandchildren, Robert Picking and his wife, Samantha of Rutland, Larissa Mattrick and her husband, Matt of Holden, Scott Anderson of Millbury and Valerie Anderson of Worcester; four great grandchildren, Bryson, Nora, Wes and Callum; his cousin and best friend, Ron Stead and his wife, Jeri of Millbury; his nephews, Steven and Barry Grahn; his extended family in his home away from home, Aruba. He is predeceased by his daughter, Jeryl Picking-Anderson and her husband, Robert Anderson; his sister, Janet Grahn and her husband, Everett.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy and as a teenager he started his automotive career working for his uncle at Ballard Motors in Millbury. In 1988, Bob and his sister Janet bought what became Ballard Truck Center in Worcester. He loved watching all sports, going to the casino, his summer home on Lake Singletary, trips with his wife to Aruba and getting together with Les and Ron. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to remember Bob’s life by gathering for his Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 5th at 2 p.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street, Millbury. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Millbury.
The family requests flowers be omitted, memorial contributions may be made to the Emanual Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood Street, Worcester, MA 01607 or to St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street, Millbury, MA 01527.
