MILLBURY – Robert E. Vaillancourt, 74, passed away on Friday June 6, 2014 surrounded by his family.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of fifty one years, Nancy L. (Pratt) Valliancourt; three daughters: Suzanne and her husband James Chanis, Kim and her husband James Montgomery of Westborough, Kristen and her husband John Williams of Falmouth; his grandchildren Jessica and her husband Stephen Rutkiewicz of Millbury; Jillian and her husband Christopher Bradley of Sturbridge; Samuel, Sophia, and Lydia Chanis, Nathaniel and Olivia Montgomery of Westborough and Jack and Emily Williams of Falmouth; his great-grandchildren Natalie, Luke, Rachel, and Aaron Rutkiewicz of Millbury; two brothers Ronald Vaillancourt and his wife Barbara of Douglas and Arsene Vaillancourt and his wife Barbara of Yarmouth; a sister-in-law, Susan M. Bozzi of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Arsene and Angelina Vaillancourt; two brothers, Maurice and Francis Vaillancourt, and his sisters, Lucienne LaRose, Lorraine Witkowski, Nora Delpe, and Gail Rowinski.
He was born in Millbury and graduated from Millbury Memorial High School. He served four years in the United States Air Force and was a disabled American Veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was employed by New England Electric Company and Massachusetts Electric Company from 1961-1998, where he held supervisory positions. He was a communicant of Assumption Church in Millbury and volunteered at the school and church for many of the events and fundraisers. He was a chairman of the Bishop's Fund for the Assumption Church for twenty years. He was a member of the Auburn-Webster Elks. He was known for his quick-wit, great sense of humor, and kind heart. He loved the beach and the ocean; he spent many years with his family in Wellfleet, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Ferguson, Dr. Benjamin Hyatt, and Dr. Venu Bathini and the VNA Hospice and nurses for their wonderful care and compassion during his illness.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, June 11th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in the Assumption Church, 10 Waters St. in Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 10th in the funeral home and burial will be in Central Cemetery in Millbury.
