WEST BOYLSTON – Robert C. Vickery, 82, formerly of Boston Rd. in Sutton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 24th in his home.
His wife, Virginia (Lynch) Vickery died in 1998. He leaves three children, Craig Vickery and his wife Linda of Reading, Linda Vickery of Worcester and Barbara McGowan and her husband, David of Oxford; a brother, Earle Vickery Jr. of Leominster; four grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. He grew up in Millbury and was the son of Earle and Marguerite (Monigle) Vickery. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold Vickery.
Mr. Vickery was a graduate of Millbury High School, and the WPI School of Industrial Management. He had a lifelong interest in aviation; he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in high school and an Army Air Corp veteran of WW II. He enjoyed his work at Wyman-Gordon in Grafton as a production manager, where he had many opportunities to work on aviation projects including the SR71 Blackbird. He retired from there after 40 years in 1988. He was a former member of the Sutton Lions Club, a member of the Westborough Country Club, and the Millbury Federated Church.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association 20 Speen Street Framingham, MA 01701.
