MILLBURY Robert F. White, 82, of 5 Durham Rd., died Saturday, March 24th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, Helen F. (Cofsky) White; three children, Patricia A. White of Sutton, Margaret White-Guthro of Newburyport and Robert F. White Jr. and his wife Deborah of Woburn; 8 grandchildren, Amy Capomacchio of Philadelphia, PA, Jonathan and Peter Capomacchio of Sutton, Cara and Christopher White, and Michael White and his wife Erin all of Woburn, Dillon and Aiden Guthro of Newburyport. He was born in Worcester, and is predeceased by his parents, Frank J. and Della (Hartnett) White and a brother, John White of California. He graduated from the former Commerce High School and the Ward School of Business Science, both in Worcester.
Mr. White was an accountant at the former Washburn Company and RolandTM)s ApplianceTM)s, both in Worcester. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps and served as an airplane armor gunner with the 675th Bombardment Squadron, during WW II in the Pacific Theater. He also was a former bookkeeper for the Millbury Highway Department, Gover Brothers Construction Co. and Days Auto Parts and was a former assistant at Mulhane Home for Funerals. He was an elected member of the Millbury Housing Authority for 16 years and a Millbury firefighter for 36 years at Engine #5, retiring as a Captain in 1990. He was a member of the Charles F. Minney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, the Devoe-Taylor American Legion Post, the Turret Gunner Assoc. and St. BrigidTM)s Parish and had served as treasurer of itTM)s former MenTM)s Club.
BobTM)s funeral will be held Thursday, March 29th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. BrigidTM)s Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in St. BrigidTM)s Cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28th in the funeral home. Members of the VFW and Legion Posts will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday for a ritual service.
