TYNGSBORO – Roger E. Corey, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 17th.
Roger is proceeded in death by wife Jean of 53 years, son Scott and great grandson Eli. He leaves two children, Tina McGillvary of Tyngsboro and Randall Corey and his wife, Jennifer of Defuniak Springs, FL; ten grandchildren, Megan and her husband, Mike, Courtney and her husband, Batulzii, Corey, John and his wife, Jaliz, Breana, Sabrina and her husband, Tommy, Summer, Madison, Bailey and Keaten; five great grandchildren, Roddrae, Madalyn, Jaylee, Damien, Bella and Emelia; his siblings, Kenneth, Richard (Jan), Dennis (Maddy), David (Rae), Herbert (Jerry), Charles, Arthur (Loretta), Dorothy (Dennis), Robert (Karen) and James; many nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by, three brothers, Richard Couture, Roland Couture and Robert Corey
Roger was born in Worcester, Ma to Dorothy M. Tetreault and Stephen B. Corey. Roger was active-duty service for 22 years in the United States Air Force and 23 years in government civilian service, retiring in 2008. He served several tours of duty overseas and served in the pentagon under Secretary of Defense.
Many of his accolades include civilian of the year in 1997, the Hammer Award for his excellence with the computer donation team, Retiree Activities volunteer of the year at Hanscom AFB in 2015.
Roger coached his boys in Little League, directed the Hanscom AFB chapels folk group as well as playing rock and roll music in several bands over many years. He enjoyed road trips and going to the casinos with his wife.
Family and friends will remember and celebrate Roger’s life with a time of visitation on Monday, Jan. 24th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 25th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street in Millbury. Burial with military honors will follow at Central Cemetery, Millbury. Face masks will be required in the funeral home and church.
