MILLBURY - Roland Nicholas Chausse, 85, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2022 at his home.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 64 years, Sue (Sullivan) Chausse, his children: Dawn Jacques and her husband Randy of Connecticut, Craig of Florida, Judy Hurley and her husband Jim of Florida, Jean of Webster, James and his wife Kathy of Arizona, and Cathy Weeks of Millbury. His grandchildren: Jacqui, Bobby, Stephanie, Thomas, Matthew, Kate, Erin, Nicholas, Catrina, Stephanie Marie, Julie, Sarah, Kevin, Patrick, Justin, Marie, Joshua and Anna. His great-grandchildren: Emma, Brennan, Dalton, Tobias, Kara, Aubrey, Abagail and Baby Prentice arriving soon. He leaves his brother Paul of Sutton, his godchildren: Jane, Scott, Lynn, and Michelle, many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, Hector and Rosanna (Barrette) Chausse, his brother, Frank Chausse, his adoring aunt, Vangie Darling, and his son-in-law, Thomas Weeks.
Roland was a truck driver and member of the Teamsters Local 170. He was a very active person and avid outdoorsman who loved life and was a coach and leader to many. He proudly entered the Navy and was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 009, always sporting his Veteran hat displaying his great love of his country. He was involved in his community over the years such as Boy Scouts Troop 110 as a scout and assistant Scout Master, Knights of Columbus Benedict Council 2379, Millbury Little League as a coach and umpire, Millbury Pee Wee Basketball coach, Millbury Men’s Softball player and umpire and continued to follow his grandchildren as they grew and were active.
Family and friends are invited to join for a time of visitation on Wednesday, Sept. 14th from 9 to 10:15 a.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.
His Funeral Mass will be the same day at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street, Millbury. Burial will follow in St. Brigid Cemetery.
