GRAFTON / WORCESTER – Roland J. Sabourin, 87, of Worcester, formerly of South Grafton and Sebastian, FL, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013. He passed peacefully with the comfort of his family.
He was born July 25, 1925 in Grafton, the son of Alfred and Federa (Noel) Sabourin. He attended Grafton High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He worked as a carpenter for Interstate Construction; building many homes in the Grafton area. For many years he ran his own business, General Contractors, and also worked in the maintenance departments for the Town of Grafton, the Antiquarian Society, Worcester Craft Center, and at Marlboro Hospital, from which he retired.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was very adept at fixing and repairing anything. He enjoyed restoring antiques, gardening, coin collecting, doing yard work, being with his family, wintering in Florida, and following the Patriots.
His beloved wife of 66 years, Carrie Lee, passed away in 2012. He leaves his two sons, Roland and his wife Kathleen of Sutton and David and his wife Kim of Holden, his grandsons Daniel and his wife Jessica of Worcester, Matthew of Sutton, Andrew and his girlfriend Kathryn Allard of Douglas, and Jeffrey of Holden, and one great-granddaughter, Catarina. He also leaves his sister Cecile Malnati of Hopedale, his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Patton and Virginia Beer of Richmond, VA and Frances French of Mechanicsville, VA, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Leo Sabourin.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. In Roland's memory, his family requests you share a kind word or special visit with your own loved ones.
