OXFORD - Ronald E. Caplette, 65, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday September 13, 2022. He has made his journey to Space the Final Frontier.
He leaves his wife of 45 years, Lois (Carlson) Caplette, his children Jason Caplette of Oxford, Derek Caplette and his wife Stephanie of Newport News, VA and Stephanie Caplette and her fiancé William Saad III of Charlton, his grandchildren Brianna, Rebecca, Elizibeth, Connor, Nathan, Caleb, Kylie, and Phoenix. He was expecting his first great granddaughter in the coming February. He also leaves his brothers, Peter Caplette of Brookfield, Paul Caplette of Mexico, NY, Fred Caplette of Oregon, Philip Caplette of Millbury and Kevin Caplette of E. Brookfield and their families. His sisters, Sheila Cordeiro of Douglas, Marie King of Millbury and Christine Palin of North Brookfield and their families. He is predeceased by his father and mother Alfred Caplette and Rachel (Lachance) Caplette of Millbury.
Ron was born and raised in Millbury. He graduated from Blackstone Valley Tech as a machinist. He served as a Machinist Repairman in the US Navy for 6 years as a Petty Officer. He was with the Millbury Fire Department where he participated in events with the muster team. Ron took great pride in all that he did. He worked for The Entwistle Company in Hudson, MA for 35 years before retiring and ending his career as a machine shop foreman.
He was funny and stoic straight through to the end. He was a proud Navy Veteran who took pride in all things Navy. His son followed in his footsteps and retired from US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. He loved his flowers, gardening and took great pride in his maintaining and caring for his property. He was a hunter and enjoyed his hunting trips with his brothers, sister, and eldest son. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and his swimming pool. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with all his family.
Ron, Ronnie, Dad, Pepe, Uncle Ron are some of the titles he held, and he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all.
Family and friends are invited to remember and celebrate Ron’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Sunday Sept. 18th from 3 to 6 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals at 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday Sept. 19th at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 12 Waters Street in Millbury. Burial with military honors will follow at West Millbury Cemetery.
