MILLBURY- Ronald A. Dame, 61, passed away surrounded by friends and family on November 29, in St. Vincents Hospital, Worcester.
Ron leaves his two children, a son, Ronald Dame, of Dudley, a daughter, Emily G Dame, of Grafton; his brother John Dame, of Millbury, and his sister, Lisa Pinto, of Sutton. He leaves many cherished friends, three in particular, Kevin Gaulin, of Millbury, Michael Michalak, of Millbury, and his ex-wife and friend, Julie Bovenzi, of Grafton.
He will be deeply missed.
Ron was predeceased by his father Roland O. Dame, his Mother Jeannine (Seguin) Dame, and a half brother Paul Dame.
Ron lived his early years in Oxford, moving to Millbury when he was 12, where he quickly made friends for life.
His family had a large garden and farm stand where he worked early on. From a young age, he learned how to plant and grow things, understanding the process; he became a great gardner.
Ron started riding dirt bikes at age 16. Ron became very passionate about motorcycles, winning many races. He had his prized Maico 490 that was legendary, like himself. No one could catch him on that bike!
He graduated from Millbury High School, and as a big, strong, young man, he worked many different places as a laborer, including Sutton Paving, also doing masonry work and landscaping. He worked at Motorsports International in Auburn in the sales department, and because of his enthusiastic energy, he was a great motorcycle salesman who loved talking to people about motorcycles and getting the customer the best bike for their needs. He had a natural gift.
Ron went to New England Fuel Institute, in Waltham, and started the career he would retire from, as an Oil Burner Technician. He worked at several places over his career, most notably Superior Oil and Hellen Fuels.
He was a very skilled person, precise and organized at what ever he did. He took pride in having the fewest call backs, meaning he did it right the first time.
He loved spending his free time doing anything outside. Ron loved camping and had all the gadgets and necessary gear for a memorable experience. He spent many summers fishing the outer Cape and the train bridge at the Canal. He was a hunter, an avid fisherman, including deep sea fishing, fresh water fishing, and ice fishing. He also was a non-commercial lobster fisherman, and for two summers he would share his catch with anyone at Donovan’s or the Old Time Inn. He loved his hobbies and did them well.
Ron was also a WWII military reenactor. Ron put a lot of effort into having the most authentic and “epic” encampment ever, and made lots of friends.
He loved being a Dad to Ronny and Emily. His children brought out the kid in him. They went on many adventures together, from yard saling to hikes in the woods looking for treasure, often aided by his metal detector. Ron definitely planted his love of the outdoors in to his children.
Ron did so much in his very short life. He had huge energy and will be missed and talked about for years to come.
