Rose G. (McKeon) McSheehy, 99, a former longtime Millbury resident, passed away at the Bay Path Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Duxbury on Saturday, December 27, 2014.
She was the wife of the late John S. McSheehy who passed away on December 22, 1968.
Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Annie (Young) McKeon.
Rose was raised in Woonsocket, attended and graduated from Saint Francis Xavier Academy in Providence, Rhode Island. Following graduation, Rose worked as a legal secretary and in 1946 married John S. McSheehy of Whitinsville, Massachusetts.
Rose was devoted to her family and cherished her Catholic religion. In Millbury, she attended St. Brigid's Catholic Church. While residing in South Dennis, she was an active communicant of St. Pius X Church in South Yarmouth where she sewed baptismal vestments and served as a lector during Sunday Masses. While on the Cape she took great pleasure as a member of the Mid Cape Chorus. But, nothing gave her greater pleasure than the company of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed travel and had the opportunity to visit the Vatican in Rome, Ireland, England, France, Kwajalein, Marshall Islands and Hawaii. At various times she resided with her son, Richard and daughter, Maureen in different parts of the United States.
Rose was the devoted mother of her sons, John F. McSheehy and his wife, Maureen of Tewksbury, Richard B. McSheehy and his wife, Pushpum of League City, TX and her daughter, Maureen C. Mahan and her husband Edward L. Mahan of Plymouth. She was the loving grandmother of Sean, Erin, Ryan, Kevin, Brian, Michael, Justin, Kristen, Ted, Brian, Mary and Kelly and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Claire (McKeon) McCauley and her husband, William of Cumberland, RI and her niece, Barbara Daley and her husband, Mark, also of Cumberland and niece Patricia (Glennon) Jaworski and her husband, Gary of New Hampshire.
Rose's funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 31st from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main Street in Millbury with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main Street in Millbury. Burial will follow in St. Brigid Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
