Ruth Greenwood

MILLBURY Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, Ruth Florence (Jacobson) Greenwood, of Millbury, died peacefully on September 12th at the age of 99 after a long and beautiful life. Florence lived in Uxbridge with her daughter, Nancy R. Grant, for the past two years. She was a resident of Millbury, MA until 1978 when she moved to Boynton Beach, FL. Flo spent summers at Harris Grove on Lake Singletary, Millbury from 1938 until the present.

Her husband, J. Roger Greenwood died in 1978, after their 50th wedding anniversary. She leaves two daughters, Nancy R. widow of Fredrick P. Grant of Uxbridge, MA and Lois M. widow of Nils Edward (Pete) Forsberg of Douglas, MA; one son, John R. and his wife Martha E. Greenwood of Holliston, MA; two sisters, Helga Garvey and Anne Godbout, both of Fullerton, CA; one sister in law, Kay Jacobson of Boynton Beach, FL; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two great-great grandsons and three nieces. Flo had two brothers, Eric Jacobson and her twin brother Arthur Jacobson that predeceased her in Florida. She was born in New York City on November 21, 1906, daughter of Alfred and Ruth (Albin) Jacobson.

Flo married Roger in 1928 and raised her family in Millbury. She was a graduate of Becker College in Worcester. Her life was devoted to her children and grand children. Her favorite expression was "Grammy loves ya". She most enjoyed summers on Lake Singletary surrounded by family. She was a member of the Millbury Womans Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, the First Congregational Church, Millbury and the First Church Mary Martha Guild. She was an avid bridge player and golfer.

FloTM)s funeral will be held Sept 16th. Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16th in the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main St., Millbury, followed by a Service at 1:00 p.m. in the First Congregational Church, 148 West Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in Central Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts to the First Congregational Church, Millbury would be appreciated.
