Ruth E. (Salo) Grundstrom, 79, passed away after a brief illness, Wednesday, May 6th in her home, surrounded by her family.
Her husband, Kenneth A. Grundstrom died in 2010. She leaves three children, Karen L. wife of Joseph Kosiba, Donna L. wife of Kenneth Elie and Sandy B. wife of Billy Lynch all of Millbury; five grandchildren, Joey and Lauren Kosiba and Brian Elie all of Millbury, Steven Elie of Shrewsbury and Scott Elie and his fiancée Kayla Stolakis of North Grafton; a great grandson, Jordan Elie; a sister, Janice S. Whittier of West Sutton; a brother, James W. Salo and his wife, Donna of Millbury; nephews and nieces and a close friend, John Davidson of Connecticut. Ruth is predeceased by her parents, V. Victor and Mildred (Davenport) Salo and a brother, Richard V. Salo.
Ruth enjoyed walking, gardening and baking. She worked at Paul Revere Insurance Co. and at Whittier Farms in the gardens and in the farm store. Ruth also worked at the voting polls for the town of Millbury for 54 years. She was a member of the Woman's Fellowship of Sutton, the Hillside Club of West Sutton, a former member of the Millbury First Congregational Church Couples Club and the Adah Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. The family would like to thank the staff at the ALS Association, Fairlawn Rehabilitation, and the VNA Care Network Hospice for their compassionate care.
Ruth's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12th in the First Congregational Church, 307 Boston Rd. in Sutton.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 11th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be private.
