Ruth I. Provencher, 72, passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2012, with her loving family by her side.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years William(Timmy) Provencher and 3 daughters, Wendy Graves and Marcella (Marcy) Provencher of Millbury and Michelle Gaval of Worcester, 6 grandchildren, Amanda Graves-Palminteri, Nathan, Joshua, Moshe, Adam, and Jaclyn Gaval and 1 great grandchild, Jonathan Gaval.
She is also survived by 4 sisters, Jan Sapp of West Virginia, Joyce Boudreau of Worcester, Deatra Deeter of Millbury and Donna Marie Chase of Florida. She is predeceased by her mother Inez Hope Tullar and a brother Raymond Tullar Jr.
Ruth graduated from David Hale Fanning High School and went on to work at Ted Smith's Salon in Worcester and then Sherar's Salon where she was one of Worcester's finest stylist/colorists at that time. She participated in New York City hair shows and she also modeled. She worked at US Steel and Worcester Wire until they closed and then went on to her most rewarding job of all, she worked at The Providence House of Millbury where she was a CNA and worked with Alzheimer/Dementia patients.
Ruth enjoyed her summers at King's Campground, tending to her beautiful flower gardens, Nascar, and swimming which she won numerous awards for synchronized swimming. But most of all she loved spending time with her family.
The Provencher family would like to thank the staff of Summit Eldercare, VNA, and Lakeside Medical for all their help and caring ways and an extra special thank you to Angela, Lisa and Kylie of Blackstone Valley Home Care for their tender care and loving compassion.
Calling hours will be held 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3rd in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Ruth's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 4th at 11 a.m. in Millbury Federated Church, 20 Main St. Millbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wachusetts Extended Care Facility c/o Activity Department, 56 Boyden Road, Holden, MA 01520 or Summit Eldercare, 1369 Grafton St., Worcester, MA 01604.
