BROCKTON - Ryan J. Estabrook, 41, formerly of Millbury, passed away at home on Monday Dec. 10th.
Ryan leaves his parents, William and Yvonne (Mailloux) Estabrook of Millbury; his aunt and uncle, Shirley and David Peterson of Bridgewater; and his cousins, Linda, wife of Wesley DeNering of Ashland, Kate, wife of Douglas Leach of Derry N. H. and Paul Peterson of Bridgewater. He is pre-deceased by his brother, Steven Estabrook who died in 1974 and his sister, Christine Estabrook who died last year.
Ryan was a 1994 graduate of Millbury Memorial High School and while in high school he was on the soccer team and was captain during his last year, there. Shortly after graduation he joined the US Navy, serving in Desert Storm also known as the Gulf War. While in the Navy he was a cook and continued that career in civilian life in many area restaurants. After his discharge from the Navy he was tested for and diagnosed for PTSD which affected him for the rest of his life. For the most part he was able to control it with the proper medication, but as he grew older it became much more problematic for him. Ryan then moved to Brockton where he became involved with the Brockton Veterans Administration, working there as a cook for a short while.
We would like to thank his counsellor at the Veterans Administration, Lauren Fleury and all the personnel for their caring and persistence in trying to improve his quality of life.
Ryan's Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday Dec. 26th in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main St. in Millbury. Ryan’s family will greet people from 10 to 11 am at the church prior to the service. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Auburn. Memorial contributions may be made to Boston Veterans Administration Volunteer Services and mailed to Boston V.A Voluntary Services, Bldg. 4, 49 Belmont St., Brockton, MA 02301.
