MILLBURY Sandra L. (Loring) Fischer, 66, died peacefully Sunday, March 8th in her home, after a long illness.
She leaves her husband of 41 years, Bruce L. Fischer; a son, Robert E. Fischer of Millbury; a daughter, Karin L. Hunt and her husband, Richard of Oxford; a granddaughter Angelina L. Hunt; a sister, Eve, wife of William Tarmey of Sanford, ME and nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Fischer was a Licensed Practical Nurse working in Denver, Boston, Worcester and Grafton. She also worked at Price Chopper, retiring in 2008. She was born in Boston, daughter of the late Robert M. and Irma I. (Tassinari) Loring and was raised in Wellesley, where she was a member of the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church. Her favorite places were the Stone House in Blue Hills, Maine and her family home in Dennisport.
Sandra was an active member in the Millbury Federated Church serving on numerous committees and activities including Missions, John Street Feedings, the Dinner Dances for the Blind, Thanksgiving In-gatherings, Foreign Mission sponsorships, the Food Pantry, The Lord's Builders, the King's Kids Clown Ministry (as "Slicker") and helped start the Blessing Tree which provided children in the community with gifts and the blessings of Christmas.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on April 19, 2009, in the Millbury Federated Church, 20 Main St. in Millbury. There are no calling hours and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Millbury Federated Church Food Pantry, 20 Main St. in Millbury, MA 01527 or to UMASS Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605. Mulhane Home for Funerals in Millbury is assisting the family with arrangements.
